Peet Serfontein & Khumbulani Kunene
We enter a long position with a target price of $1 220 and a stop-loss of $1 015.
BlackRock Inc. is the world's largest asset management firm, boasting trillions of US dollars in assets under management across equity, fixed income, multi-asset, alternatives and cash strategies. The company serves both institutional and retail investors, offering a wide range of financial products and services.
The group primarily derives income from management and performance fees linked to assets under management, making scale, market performance and net client inflows key drivers of earnings. Through its size, global reach and influence in capital markets, BlackRock plays a central role in shaping investment trends, corporate governance engagement and the broader evolution of modern asset management.
Technically, the emergence of a developing fifth wave within a broader impulsive structure reinforces trend continuation and supports the case for further appreciation - this signals a potential investment opportunity for the stock (see the number notation one to five on the main chart).
Based on the insert on the main chart, the combination of stabilised volumes, the absence of heavy distribution (extreme red spikes) and signs of gradual participation suggest that the stock is building a constructive base for a push higher.
Shallow downside price momentum, according to the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), and the recent sideways trajectory of the on-balance volume (OBV) indicator, also support our bullish view.
Investors can also gain exposure to Blackrock through FNB's JSE listed ETN's, BRETNC (with rand exposure) and BRETNQ (without rand exposure).
