Calculate your eBucks

Before you can calculate how many eBucks you will earn, you must:

  • Qualify to earn
  • Know your reward level and eBucks reward rate

How many eBucks will you earn when shopping?

Once qualified, you simply need to multiply your eBucks reward rate (determined by your reward level) by the amount you've spent on your qualifying shopping. Qualifying purchases exclude EFTs or debit orders. Your maximum earn on shopping is capped at eB5 000 per month.

An example

Tandeka spends R2 000 on her day-to-day shopping with her qualifying FNB Personal Cheque Card in one month.

Tandeka's banking products and how she used them in the previous 12 months, has given her a reward level of 3. This means her eBucks reward rate is 0.8%.

To determine how much eBucks she'll earn the next month:

Formula Calculation
Qualifying shopping X eBucks reward rate = eBucks earned R2 000 X 0.8% = R16 = eB160

Remember, R1 = eB10

How many eBucks will you earn on fuel and prepaid airtime?

Once qualified, you need to multiply your eBucks reward rate by your qualifying fuel spend and qualifying airtime spend to determine how much eBucks you will earn.

Your maximum qualifying fuel spend is capped at 20% of your total Cheque Card swipes for the month, with the maximum amount you can earn on fuel capped at eB6 250 per month, and the maximum amount you can earn on prepaid airtime is capped at eB1 500 per month.

An example

Sipho spends the following amounts using his FNB Personal Cheque Card during one month:

  • R3 000 on day-to-day shopping
  • R2 000 on fuel
  • R200 on prepaid airtime from FNB

This gives him a total of R5 000 that he has spent by swiping his FNB Personal Cheque Card on shopping and fuel, and R200 that he has spent on airtime through FNB's electronic banking channels.

He has reached reward level 4 based on the FNB banking products he has and how he uses them. This means he will earn 7.5% back in eBucks on his qualifying fuel and airtime spend.

Formula for eBucks for shopping amount Calculation
Qualifying shopping x eBucks reward rate = eBucks earned Calculation: R3 000 x 1.2% = R36 = eB360
Formula for qualifying fuel spend Calculation
Total spend x 20% = qualifying fuel spend Calculation: R5 000 x 20% = R1 000
Formula for eBucks for fuel amount Calculation
Qualifying fuel spend x eBucks reward rate = eBucks earned Calculation: R1 000 x 7.5% = R75 = eB750
Formula for eBucks for airtime amount Calculation
Qualifying airtime spend x eBucks reward rate = eBucks earned Calculation: R200 x 7.5% = R15 = eB150

Add the totals eB360 + eB750 + eB150. Sipho earns eB1 260 that month. Always remember, R1 = eB10.
